Robert Clayton

Chartered Financial Planner

I am a Chartered Financial Planner at our Exeter office. I have a broad range of financial planning experience with a pension bias and also hold a specialist pension transfer qualification.

The Exeter office is primarily for research and administration, so I often get involved in our complex client work, frequently liaising between our clients and the various financial services companies they are invested with.

I like spreadsheets, and though they aren’t everyone’s preferred bedtime reading they enable me to construct specific financial models for our clients. For example, showing the long-term effects of gifting a property to children, or the consequences of making pension contributions where there are Lifetime Allowance issues, are two areas I’ve recently been asked to model.

As for words of wisdom, as the great comedian Steven Wright says, “If at first you don’t succeed then skydiving definitely isn’t for you”.
